PERSISTENCE OF VISION

2021

Persistence of Vision (POV) is an AI enabled interactive network of spotlights disguised as security cameras. Each camera uses DeepStream vision software to detect and track humans as they pass through the laneway. Brushless robotic servo motors enable the pan and tilt axis and an LCD Lens Vector is used to focus the beam when participants are detected.

This playful choreography of technology, movement and light of course has complex undertones, drawing the public’s awareness to the now commonplace use of video surveillance and emerging AI technologies across cities globally. 

The network is setup to alert neighbouring units of humans approaching. Allowing for the installation to ‘pass’ people between spotlights.
